FAQ
Here are some of
our most frequently asked questions. If you have
a question and do not see it answered here,
please contact us.
We'll answer your question and then post it here
for others to see.
What are your ground rules for
engagement?
No matter what the project or client, we work
and live by certain hard-and-fast standards. We
have found, time and again, that the end message
and final product are all the more superior when
we stick close to these ideals:
-
Set a realistic deadline and then stick to it.
-
If you don't know something, ask!
-
You get what you pay for.
-
Assign one person on your team to serve as our contact & your
gateway to us.

What are your rates?
Depending on the client's needs, we can charge by the hour, by
the project or by the time period (i.e., retainer or block
purchase). Our estimates/quotes are all-inclusive of two (2)
rounds of revisions, background research, interviewing,
phone/e-mail correspondence and anything else that would go into
doing a complete job. Jobs/projects with a deadline of under two
(2) business days will be subject to a rush fee. Please contact
us for a no-obligation project/services quote and consultation.
FAQ Index
What is your turnaround time?
We have never missed a deadline. That said, there is no one set
turnaround time. We work on a schedule and plan about one
business week out. We work hard to accommodate all schedules and
needs. In most cases, we will deliver, via e-mail, a client's
first draft within 5 business days (i.e., one week).
FAQ Index
Do you have a trade rate?
We work closely with other professionals in related fields
(e.g., public relations, advertising, marketing and design). We
do offer volume discounts for our loyal clients whose referrals
and business we value so highly.
FAQ Index
So, are you basically a freelance writer sitting
around in your sweatpants?
Absolutely not! If you refer to our vision statement, you will
see that one of our driving purposes is to put writing on the
map of business and to eradicate the idea that writing and
related services are business 'extras.' We're not artists who
write in our spare time. We're in this for the long haul,
shoulder-to-shoulder with other businesspeople and entrepreneurs
out there. There is great value in good copy -- ask any of our
happy customers!
FAQ Index
What is your process like?
Depending on their budget or age of the business, we may start
with a brochure and then a website. Along the way, we'll create
press releases, e- or print newsletters and a PowerPoint
presentation. We may also serve as a "second eye," proofing
letters, existing articles and even an e-mail or two. We keep in
mind that some of our clients have never used or even heard of
copywriting or copywriters before. We will also never sell or
suggest services that your business doesn't really need. All of
our fees include two (2) full rounds of revisions. Everything is
spelled out and agreed to before any work begins. We also
require a 50% deposit to get started on any project.

We love the work you have done for us and want to
refer you to others in the business community. How do we know
who needs you and how do we bring it up in conversation?
Thank you for asking! Your referrals are the best "thanks" we
could ask for. Anytime someone in business mentions a
newsletter, brochure or website that is still unwritten, think
of us. Anytime they mention "typo" or "wordy" or "verbiage,"
think of Get It In Writing. Also, most marketing, advertising,
web, P.R. and multimedia professionals are desperately looking
for professional copy. They want and need us and are just
waiting for the referral!
FAQ Index
Do you do resumes? College and grad school
essays?
In a word, no. Because our clients are businesses and corporate
entities, we tend not to work with individuals on these types of
projects. We do, however, have close ties to other professional
writers who specialize in these types of projects. We would be
happy to refer them to you.
FAQ Index
Are your clients corporate and business only, or
do you service individuals?
Our expertise and skills are, at this time, best utilized by
businesses, corporate entities and non-profits.
FAQ Index
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept checks, money orders and process all major credit
cards (MasterCard, Visa and American Express). As of June 1,
2006, we require a 100% up-front payment (credit card preferred,
checks also accepted) on projects of $1,000 and under.
FAQ Index
What is copyrighting?
Copyrighting refers to a type of ownership protection for
literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and certain other
intellectual works. It's an area best navigated by a legal
professional and has little to do with copywriting.
FAQ Index
Since you are already writing our ad or brochure
copy, can you also lay it out graphically?
We are not graphic artists or layout professionals. Thankfully,
though, we work with professionals of varying levels of
expertise, experience, skill and hourly rates and will easily
bring in the right artist for the job.
FAQ Index
We already have our copy written and just need a
professional to "polish" it. Can you do this for us?
In addition to writing copy and developing messages from
"scratch," we can also edit, polish and perfect existing copy
(in print and/or online). Keep in mind that from a time and
billing standpoint, rewriting, editing and polishing are not
generally quick in-and-out jobs and that it would be wrong to go
this route simply to save time or money.
