This Week’s
Marketing &
Copywriting
Tip
|
|

|
|
Because this week’s focus is on marketing what you really are and what you really offer, I thought these tips would be especially helpful:
When getting started on a marketing project, whether it’s from scratch or a revision of something already existing, you (meaning your business) will want to first look at the big picture.
To start, are you certain:
-
What you are trying to do?
- Who you are trying to do it with or to?
- What results you are seeking?
Be clear on these answers, as they will inform every step you take. You won’t receive your desired response or result if you aren’t clear on what you are trying to do. The answers may be in a number of forms, including:
Increasing sales or another specific number;
Raising awareness of a new idea, product or service; and/or
Offering an existing product or service to a new group (e.g., a product for attorneys that you are now rolling out to or customizing for CPAs).

Welcome to

When I first started out on my own in business, I didn’t have a clear vision or definite milestones or goals. I just wanted clients and projects and for the world to know that I and Get It In Writing existed. I would imagine that many of you, if you are entrepreneurs, small business owners, service providers, consultants and/or coaches, started out similarly.
As time went on and the years have passed, my business and my goals have changed, been set and then changed again. Along the way, even as my level of expertise, experience and exposure increased, increased and increased more, I continued to think of and present Get It In Writing and, as an extension, myself, as the copywriting company for all businesses and all budgets.
Maybe it’s a female thing (and maybe not), but I just didn’t want to turn anyone away. And in the process of trying to be “nice” (which really wasn’t even nice) and inclusive, I didn’t always make the best business decisions. (And I’m OK with that, I’ve made plenty of mistakes, and I am sure you have, too.)
At the beginning of this year, I decided (or actually I already knew, but finally admitted it) that this was the year things would change. This was the year that the marketing expert/company masking as “just” a copywriting expert/company would pull off the mask and make itself known.
(You know the phrase about the shoemaker’s children having no shoes? Well, never was it truer than in this case.)
Interested in learning more about what this admission will look like for me and for my company? Be sure to read our next newsletter (two weeks from today’s date) for a continuation – not because I want to keep you in suspense, but because this letter is getting too long!
I’ll tell you more about how I will be embracing who Get It In Writing really is in an effort to, ultimately, do the best possible job for my clients and their own marketing campaigns.
Until then…
Yours In Success,

Allison Nazarian
